The above should be considered unofficial and I can't even confirm if it's correct (though it presumably is) - current ACF policy is not to release the draft selections, only the final selections.

As far as I know GM Smerdon did not apply.

I strongly disagree. I believe Ryanova is spelled incorrectly.

Michael omitted to cite the source of his post, which was a tweet from Ian Rogers:

How dare they select the teams before we've had a ChessChat poll?

If everyone had applied (Open team) it would have been tough !

It seems that she transliterates Рыжанова as Ryjanova, although an alternative would be Ryzhanova.

It was leaked last Olympiad also. Surely we can do better.

It will probably always be leaked, often within hours. (I think it might have been slower than usual this time.) This is inevitable given that it has to be emailed to the applicants so that they know the order of the selections in order to exercise their appeal right (should they be so inclined). With so many people receiving the news it isn't possible to determine who has passed it on.

I preferred the old system where the provisional selections were published immediately, but it's not my portfolio anymore.

Yes, it was hard to exclude James Morris last time after another great Doerbel victory, because the applicants were so strong. Glad he has a spot this time.

Very young team when ZYZ is the veteran. Conversely, two of the Kiwi team are over 50—and clearly deserved their spots.

An appeal has been dismissed, and above selections and board numbers are confirmed

Would be interesting to know who appealed and on what grounds.

I would assume M.Ly might have given he was board 3 last time and played reasonably well. Form has clearly been at the forefront of the selectors minds so hopefully it transfers to the Olympiad and we have a positive result. I also think this is easily the strongest women’s team I’ve ever seen.
