Kai Jie Soo was a surprise winner ahead of 4 IMs!
Another notable result - Daniel Dobos winning his rd1 games vs. Mark Chapman

Daniel also detailed the game to me afterwards. Was a mighty fine attack!

Personal highlight for me today was my game with Julia. Always exciting even though it ended in a draw. See you all next week.

Is the Melbourne Chess Club going to hold any Allegro tournaments in 2019?
A wise prince will seek means by which his subjects will always and in every possible condition of things have need of his government, and then they will always be faithful to him. Niccolo Machiavelli (14691527), Il Principe (The Prince)

A wise prince will also realise that this can be achieved more successfully by means other than rape, pillage, greed, lies, deceit or misinformation.

I am pretty sure they will start a new Threat shortly! In fact I may start 1 after consulting with the club committee tomorrow.
