Did Yi Liu qualify for an IM Norm from Marienbad Open 2018 A1? Looks like he's scored 5.5/9 against average 2414.

Looks good to me; a great performance. Haven't seen the certificate yet.

Tim Reilly advises he has two norms (the second one Auckland 2006) so the opening post has been corrected.

Justin Tan has recorded his third GM norm in the 4NCL. [EDIT: May not be valid, see below.]

Unfortunately on checking Justin Tan's 3rd norm prior to submitting the application I believe that it may not be valid. The issue is the number of opponents from federation ENG. Certain national title events including the 4NCL have an exemption from the "federations of opponents" rules but following a change made at the Baku Congress and effective 1 July 2017, this exemption now only applies to players from the host federation. I hope I am missing something here and the norm is OK but for the time being I have taken Justin's norm tally back to 2 in the opening post.

    Hi Kevin,

How many are from ENG? If more than 5 which I believe is the case, he will be ineligible for the norm.

    lost

Eight. On my reading six would have been OK (he is not from England so can have exactly 2/3 from England) but no more than that under the new rules.

Thanks a lot, Kevin, the GM application now shows up as registered on the FIDE title site. Efficient!

Whilst looking at the norm site, I see that John Paul Wallace has a GM norm registered from the 2016 IoM, which should be added to the list.

Justin is now shown on his FIDE card as GM so he can be removed from the norm list in the starting post.

Karl Zelsesco already has the required rating of 2400 for an IM title, right?

Yes, he went over 2400 on the 2018 November list.
