I paid and entered (and emailed Gail via the QWCL address) in the middle of the day. I think I'm about 2060 which makes me the 4th seed.

Thanks Henry for posting the main winners last night. Brodie McClymont won like "White Caviar", winning all 6 games! Brodie mentioned in his victory speech how well Tony Dowden played in their clash- at one stage Tony had the opportunity to grab a sizeable advantage. Brodie (2472) defeated Mark C Stokes (1539), Tony Weller (1734),Tony Zhong (1785), Yi Liu (2316), Tony Dowden (2067) and Hughston Parle (1775).

The U800 Section had 5 equal winners: Khush Patel, Byron Morris, Raymond Zhuang, Alexander Dong and Aditya Annand, all on 2 points out of 6.

    Here is how Brodie demolished Mark C Stokes in Round 1: Mark v Brodie: 1.d4 Nf6 2. Bg5 c5 3. d5 Ne4 4. h4 Qb6 5. Qc1 g6 6. Nd2 Nxg5 7.hxg5 Bg7 8. c3 d6 9. a4 e6 10. a5 Qd8 11.dxe6 fxe6 12. Ngf3 d5

    13. Qc2 0-0 14. Ra4 c4 15. b3 Bd7 16. Rb4 Na6 17. Rxb7 cxb3 18. Qb2 Nc5 19. Rb4 Qxa5 20. Nd4 Rac8 21. e3 Na4 22. Qxb3 Rxc3 23. Qb1 Rfc8 24. Rb8 Rxb8 25. Qxb8+ Rc8 26. Qh2 Rc1+ 27 Ke2 e5 28. Qxh7+ Kf7

    29. N(d4)b3 Nc3+ 30. Kf3 e4+ 31 Kg3 Qc7+ 32.Resigns At least I liked playing 28 Qxh7+, though by then I was dead lost anyway! If only I could have got the rook on a4 on move 14 across to h4 - that would have been a fun way to connect rooks!

Brodie won lots of his games in entertaining style and ground out an ending win in The French against Yi Liu that was interesting to watch in its own way.
