    Auckland Anniversary Weekender on 30 January - 1 February 2016

    Auckland Anniversary Weekender

    Date: 30 January - 1 February 2016

    Venue: Auckland Chess Centre, 17 Cromwell St, Mount Eden, Auckland. google map link.

    6-round Swiss system Open tournament with a Standard time control of all moves in 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move from move one.

    Poison Pawn Grand Prix Class 1 event.

    Schedule:
    * Saturday 30 January: Players’ meeting 9am. Round start times: Round 1 9:30 am and Round 2 14:30 pm
    * Sunday 31 January round start times: Round 3 9:30 am and Round 4 14:30 pm
    * Monday 1 February Round 5 9:30 am and Round 6 14:30 pm
    * Prize-giving will follow the completion of the last game on Monday evening.

    Prize Fund
    Open 1st $300, 2nd $200, 3rd $100, 4th $75. Plus Grade Prizes to the value of $725.

    Entry fee: $50.

    Details:
    * Must be NZCF registered player. If not, $20 annual NZCF registration fee must be paid with entry.
    * No entries accepted after 9am 30th January.
    * Only first 50 fully paid entries accepted due to space constraints.
    * No half-point byes available.
    * zero point byes can be requested in any round.
    * No player may claim more than one prize.
    * In the event of a tie, prize money will be shared.
    * Players eligible for open or grade prize would receive the highest monetary value prize.
    * There's an ODI cricket match at Eden Park on 31 January. So there will be parking restrictions in the area. More info.

    Auckland Anniversary Events in Auckland

    In case anyone is interested there are also other events in Auckland over the anniversary weekend and some of them are when there's no chess. SO here's a list with links etc.

    It was Girl Power weekend! There were 5 females in a tournament of 34 and we were 1st or 1st= in every category (Open, u1800, u1500, u1200). Well done Jasmine, Vyanla and Nadia!
