Was surprised to see such a strong field, Justin continuing good form with a win against a 2000, and drawing 2640 Hrant.
Max lost to a 2200 first round and beat a 2300 last round.

Both Max and Justin went into drawing rook endgames today,
Max unfortunately lost to 2368 WIM
Justin was slightly better but drew a 2577 GM,
    Justin's drawn two GM's in a row.

Max's opponent WIM Yuliya Shvayger is the wife of Arkadij Naiditsch who as we know are both living in Azerbaijan. Yuliya originally comes from the Ukraine.

No, Max drew under the 50 moves rule.

To be honest I sent that just before I went to bed and assumed he'd lose the queen v rook endgame

Though technically winning, Queen vs Rook is often pretty difficult to do in practice.

She forced the King into the corner - which is what you need to do - after about 14 moves, and after move 68 she missed a simple win: 69.Qc2+ (not 69...Ka1 70.Qc1 mate) Ka3 70.Qc3+ Ka4 71.Kc4 and wins the Rook or mates.

The endgame could have been drawn may be at some point - but certainly not an easy draw!

Max Illingworth is also 3.5/6 after beating a 2350 FM

Did the Justin game create a record for pawn gobbling?
