    Is it bigger and nicer
.. this Caketin is full of little spiders and watermelon seeds.....

..Chess is all about fear and psychology

..Chess is like an exam..... you havent studied for

..If you're good at Chess it means you are very intelligent and could potentialy do great things
..... but that you might have wasted that playing way too much chess

Last year's venue was pretty damn nice, however the costs this year were too high.

The Hinterland hotel provides us with two separate rooms which makes life easier for organising different rounds times between Open division and the U1600/U1000 event, whilst upstairs is a bistro, bar, sports bar (Mark Stokes will be happy!) etc. Tea and Coffee will be provided free of charge.

There is also accommodation on site available and we are working with the hotel for a 10% discount on accommodation for all competitors.

Nearby there are a myriad of other shops right nearby as well.

In late 2015, there was a proposal to expand the ACF Grand Prix to allow clubs to register their open non-weekend tournaments, as well as their open weekend tournaments.

I understand the proposed changes were not adopted for the 2016 ACF Grand Prix, so apologies if I am not posting in the ideal thread. Nevertheless I am interested to know if the expansion is still being seriously considered. What is the likelihood of this going ahead in 2017?

    Hi Andrew,

This proposal was seriously considered, but after consultation with several ACF executive members, my recommendation to the ACF was not to adopt this change. As such clause 3.6 was added to the 2016 ACF GP Rules stating...

3.6 Excepting the Australian Open and the Australian Championships, all tournaments registered in the ACF GP will not exceed 7 days in duration.

There are no changes planned for this rule in the 2017 GP Rules.

Well, it's Show Week here in Hobart, meaning I'll get some time to catch up on my ACF GP reporting.

Over the coming weekend I'll release the latest updates, the 2017 GP rules, and other paperwork, and form the 2017 ACF GP thread here on chess chat.

With the online registration system, there is no official opening or changes that need to be applied for you to register your 2017 events.

So, if you have events planned for the early part of 2017, and you want them to be in the ACF GP, you can register them now!

Final Scores Released at Noon on Dec 11

    Hi Everyone,

I know you've all be eagerly awaiting the latest GP scores and I would like to thank you all for your patience over the past 6 months.

I'd also like to thank those who very diligently sent their results in on time, and to Bill for forwarding on the tardy ones.

I have now collated and tallied the final results, and will release them on the ACF website and on ChessChat on or as close to noon on Sunday as possible. I will not be able to make the awards ceremony at the Australian Open early next year so I'll take this opportunity to congratulate all the prize winners.

I have commenced work on the 2017 rules, and will create an appropriate thread very soon. All changes to the 2017 GP will be posted on that thread, but as a prelude to that thread I'd like to alert people to the fact that the current registration form/page is still operational and will work for registering tournaments for the 2017 GP, a new one will is not needed. So, if you have tournaments in Jan/Feb that you'd like to enter, you can do so now.
