White to move and win. A little composition I made last night. Quite looking like a real OTB endgame I would say.

Chess well played is imagination, calculation, observation, experience and memorization in order of importance.
TrickyThis continuation (in white) is interesting.
In it, the knight reappears.
1. b8=Q+ Kxa1 2. Kb6 Kb1 3. Kc5+ Ka1 4. Kb4 Kb2 5. Qh2+ Kb1 6. Kb3 a1=N+ 7. Kc3 Nc2 8. Qxc2+ Ka1 9. Qb2# *
Yes, this is correct. The only point is of course that 2.Kb6! wins two tempi which is exactly enough to win the position. However, Black should not cooperate like this with 3...Ka1 but instead play 3...Kc1!? hoping that White does not regroup the queen correctly. On 3...Kc2?! 4.Qh2+! is correct and after 4...Kb1 5.Kb4 (or Kc4) a1=Q 6.Kb3 we get to the solution quicker. After 3...Kc1!? instead White must play 4.Qe5 (or 4.Qf4+) Kb1 5.Qe1+ Kb2 6.Qd2+ Kb1 7.Kb4 a1=Q 8.Kb3 Qc3+ (hopeless as anything else) 9.Kxc3 (not 9.Qxc3 stalemate!) Ka1 10.Qb2+ checkmate. In your line a knight reappears, but of different breed (black Stallion).

So what's your excuse? For running like the devil's chasing you?
See you in another life, brotha.
I will use the PGN viewer to share some chess compositions.
