    Recommendations for a chess program

Hi, this is my first post. Hello to all.

Can members please recommend chess platforms. I have 3 requirements.

    1. Be able to set up pieces and let computer resume play from any position.
    2. Record games and display / print game in notation.
    3. Have strong chess engine with multiple levels.

I would like to hear your preferences, and find out if there is anything available that matches my wish list.

I have had Fritz 8 for years (though other engines can be used) though its not obvious how to change levels.

Winboard allows you to set the depth of engines.

    Hi Selhurst

The FREE! Arena Chess GUI (Graphical User Interface) first link below will do everything you want Plus once you get to know how the Program works you can then add other Free Chess Engines Second link...that's if you need any more Engines ? because is comes loaded with some Very Strong ones! (3000)+ ELO .

When you go to the Link I recommend you download the Second download Version ( Arena 3.5 setup (16 MB): Arena 3.5 setup includes everything from the ZIP plus engines Nejmet 3.07 and Dragon 4.6 plus move announcements. ) for ease of Setup.

hey Fischerman, I used to play there too, till one day my defense system warned me about a nasty little virus lurking there.
Nowadays, I use lichess, arena and a couple of others! (I think chess24 and another one I can't recall because I haven't used it for donkey's years).

    Cheers!
