Max Illingworth will be giving a lecture at MCC on "Applying Positional Chess Principles" a couple of days before the Hjorth Open, on Wednesday 28th October.

Last year Max won the Hjorth Open with a very strong result of 9/9.

This is a great opportunity to hear from one of Australia's chess professionals .

    Club members free, $5 non-members.

The lecture summary from Max follows:

"I will take a particular general principle (e.g. when ahead in development, open the position), show a model game illustrating it, then move on to another general principle. I'll also include a game and a few positions at the end for the stronger end of the audience on handling situations where two of these principles are conflicting (and determining which one is more important). "
