    CAQ calendar enquiry

Not sure who to ask but I'm sure somebody here can answer this one.

I may be required to visit Brisbane for family matters later this year so I looked up what's going on there - quite a bit, it seems. I was curious as to what is the "Ostrich & Badger Weekender" (12-13 Sep). Is it some sort of novelty event, or a "normal" weekender?

This event is not yet confirmed (awaiting approval from Ratty or Toad?) and is possibly slightly outside my visiting dates, but that might change and in any event the explanation may have some entertainment value.

Andrew Davies is the man behind Park Road Chess Club that runs those Rosalie events. It is a normal weekender i can assure you, though there is a chance there will be a rating floor of 1000 as a minimum requirement.....As to it not being confirmed, I believe it's contingent on how a few of the other events going at the start of the year.

As for the name.....well that I have no idea about! Shall ask

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it transpires that I will be in Queensland at the wrong time for this event (though should manage one or two others) - perhaps if it is a success there will be future editions.
