The Leo Wilkinson Memorial is on very soon: Saturday September 27 and Sunday September 28!
The venue is the E Block of Grace Lutheran College, Buchanan Street, Rothwell.
It is an ACF Grand Prix event and a CAQ Inc Participation Grand Prix event.
The tournament will be both ACF and Queensland Junior Rated.

Round 1 is on Sat Sept 27 at 10am.
Round 2 is on Sat Sept 27 at 12:30pm.
Round 3 is on Sat Sept 27 at 3pm.
Round 4 is on Sun Sept 28 at 10am.
Round 5 is on Sun Sept 28 at 12:30pm.
Round 6 is on Sun Sept 28 at 3pm.

1st Prize: $800 2nd Prize : $400 3rd Prize : $200 plus Rating Group Prizes! DOP: Patrick Byrom

Best Under 1600: $ 400!
Best Under 1200: $ 200!

Time Control: All moves in 60 minutes plus 10seconds a move from move 1.

Entry Fees: Adults-$60 Pensioners-$50 Juniors- $50 Full Time Students-$50
If you are not a CAQ Member, add $20 to your entry fee!

Free entry for GM, WGM, IM, WIM if you enter by Friday September 19!

Great to see Year Twelver Yi Liu make a top return to tournament chess. Charles Tsai's draw with IM Moulthun Ly was a big achievement too and Redcliffe's Michael Cashman performance was impressive, pushing Brodie all the way to the finish line.

Probably true. But one kind-of recent Olympian he did not beat - indeed lost to - last weekend is our good friend Dr Tony Dowden who played for NZ. But as I have said in relation to Max I, everyone is allowed to lose a game occasionally - especially to other players who are also good. (But it should not lead to pulling out of a tournament. If I did that every time I lost I would never complete a tournament!)

I'd say that if he is interested, he'll need to get more runs on the board at longer time control FIDE-rated events as well as the weekenders he is so consistent and reliable in. And also stop withdrawing from tournaments. Whatever the reasons, a player with a history of withdrawing while performing badly creates an impression that if they start an Olympiad poorly they will collapse in a heap.
