I have not analyzed the game (just played through the moves quickly) but by the look of it - very strong play by Sylvester!

I don't think I've seen the line before but 12...Rxh2 is well known when 13.Qxg4 is correct and 13.Kxh2 is a mistake followed by 14.Nc4 which completely loses as per the game. Still nice work to either know up to there or find it OTB, especially as black seems to equalise in the correct line anyway.

So Sylvester just needs a draw to win the event.

That game is highly entertaining but full of mistakes and changes in who is winning (if anyone). Among the goodies black missed forced mate with 45...Ne4.

Thanks for being the arbiter Paul!

An impressive tournament by Ray Yang! I don't feel so bad about losing to him after he also beat Svetozar Stojic and Marko Grabovac. Do we have the Ray Yang vs. Marko Grabovac game? I recall Ray played 1. a3, presumably to thwart Marko's book knowledge.
