    Sydney International Open 2014

I'm planning to play in this event, can anyone offer affordable accommodation, or billeting opportunities?

Lots of top players are in for the Doeberl/ SIO double, including the top overseas GMs. Should be a great event. I will watch some of it live.

I can't make the fund-raising banquet this year, but did last year and can highly recommend it. It was a good night with trivia and auctions.

Currently 70+ entries in the main event and 43+ in the Minor. Web site near start of thread.

GM Ian, the web site says you are doing commentary again. That is great! Which rounds?
    Thanks.

Parramatta Chess Festival begins tonight with City of Sydney lightning. Registrations at 7, start down for 7.30. SIO starts tomorrow! Come and play in one or both of these events if you can!

Great news! Ian has advised me that he will be doing his commentary for every round! This is something not to be missed at least once if you can make it to Parramatta Town Hall during the SIO!

rr, all NSWCA members received the SIO brochure, whoch includes the lightning.

Adamski last night played a very unsuccessful unintended "triple Swiss Gambit". 0/5 (eek!) became 4/9, starting with the bye and leaving the best 'til last - a win v a provisionally 2000 rated Sri Lankan. 1st equal were IM Stephen Solomon and (I think) Luke Li, followed by IM James Morris and WIM Heather Richards and the now Melboutrne-based Azerbaijani FM, Kanan Izzat.

And no doubt the NSWCA member list includes everyone who might play so no need to post any reminder on here. However if one did post a reminder here, might be good to do it earlier so that, on the off chance, anyone who saw the reminder would have time to actually get to the event. Or not. Whatever.
