2014 Chess Victoria FIDE Arbiters Seminar
Chess Victoria has applied for FIDE approval to organise a FIDE Arbiters Seminar.
Details are as follows:
Dates: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May 2014
Time: 8:00am – 6:00pm
Venue: University of Third Age (U3A) Knox, 1A, Park Boulevard, Ferntree Gully.
Conducted by: IA N Y Wong and IA Peter Tsai
Cost: $70 (Optional: additional $30 for FIDE Arbiter Examination)
Seminar topics:
a) Laws of Chess.
b) Tournament Rules.
c) System of Games, tie breaks.
d) Regulations for the rating and the over‐the‐board titles.
e) Swiss system and pairing rules.
f) Regulations for the titles of the Arbiters.
g) Use of the electronic clocks.
h) Examination (optional)

The registration is only confirmed upon payment.
The FIDE Arbiter Examination is required only if you want to get a norm for the title of FIDE Arbiter. To get the title of FIDE Arbiter, 4 norms are required, one of which must be the successful attendance of a FIDE Arbiter Seminar and passing the FIDE Arbiter Examination.
Players (and parents) are welcome to attend to familiarise themselves with the topics mentioned above.
