    2013 Australasian Masters

Was drawn to my attention there was no thread on this, which is surprising; better start one.

This is the regular invitational RR event but this year it has a top tier GM norm event as well, which is a great rarity for Australia and it will be interesting to see how it goes.

There's an apparent eventual live game link on the BHCC site here: http://boxhillchess.org.au/current-t...rs/live-games/ though at the moment those links go to other games.

Does anyone have field details etc?

    Thanks Kevin,

As the tournament is being held at Box Hill Chess Club I have set up web information on the Box Hill web site. As in previous years I will archive the tournament when it is completed

I will be talking to Leonid tonight. So far I have not been given details of the fields. Hopefully once the draws take place tomorrow I will be able to post all the draws on the web page. As we have an easy to use Content Management System this should not be a problem. Posting results will be easy and I can do it either in the club or at home.

I have been told by a member of the chess Victoria executive that 5 DGT boards being cared for by Noble Park will be available and used for the masters. This needs to be confirmed by Leonid.

I have set up the web page to display games from the DGT boards. I know that at present they show other games. However I wanted to test that I had set up the web page so that it works. The DGT boards should be set up when the draw is made.

There are other things to organize such as capturing the PGN game scores.

I cannot give you details of the field. Round robins are a little scary in that you have to be prepared for withdrawals right up till when the draw is made and have emergencies available.

I have seen Leonid Sandler and Kerry Stead in action many times and am sure that they will run a highly successful touurnament.

I was hoping to play in the IM event, but information about this event is very vague.

Answering Flude's question, Roger Croft is running the 5 BHCC DGT boards for the GM tournament on the BHCC website. I am running the 5 DGT Boards for the IM tournament on the NPCC website.

Just answering before someone asks, no we can't put all 10 boards on one website because we're using two different computers, and you can't ask both computers to upload to the same website because the data will override. Secondly Roger uses different DGT software in his broadcasting then I do, so the two softwares don't work together.

Great to hear Altecman. You have confirmed what I was told informally. The Box Hill DGT boards are older than the ones used by Noble Park and the software used is different. Roger suggested that I link from the Box Hill Chess Club home page to both sets of DGT boards. I tried this but it messed up the look of this web page so I reverted to my contingency plan.

I am really pleased that you and Noble Park Chess Club are supporting the tournament.

P.S. I prefer to be called David or Fludey or even "The dreaded Fludey"

Thanks for all the details, Peter. Should be great to follow. Is Eddy Levi the main sponsor of this two tiered tournament (as I think he has been in past years for the single event) or CV or some other body (BHCC?) or a combination?

It didn't freeze, sometimes you need to manually refresh the page. I have that problem too sometimes, but the broadcast was fine.
