Phil Viner retires as The Australian chess columnist

If link is part paywalled, copy link and search in Google News and you should get unpaywalled version.

I believe the chess column will be in good hands with Paul Broekhuyse taking over.

Phil has done a great job over so many years.

always being the stirrer - would we prefer a higher ranked player doing the job? so maybe they could do their own or provide a higher standard of game analysis.

and maybe someone who actually travels overseas on tourneys. and Phil was goin overseas until pretty recently also doubling up as an Aust delegate or informal delegate

I nominate Max ILlingworth - it will give him a bit of pocket money he may need
    but otherwise luv the guy

Zionism is racism as defined by the UN, Israel by every dirty means available steals land and water, kill Palestinian freedom fighters and civilians, and operates an apartheid system to drive more Palestinians off their land

Paul Broekhuyse is extremely well written so he will be an excellent choice for the chess column. Just remember his work with the ACF Bulletin.

Thanks Phil - Good luck Paul.
