Yes I was going to come back to that. But if supernatural wonders don't rate a mention perhaps there were witnesses that aren't mentioned either. Jono has a great imagination, I'm sure he'll let us know.

Two of the Gospels were written by Jesus' disciples. Mark was written by Peter's disciple. Jesus probably told His disciples. Luke says he investigated carefully the other accounts available, and talked to people.

At best the earliest Gospels go back to late first century after the Jewish revolution and probably two generations after the 30s AD. The earliest reliably identifiable author in the Bible is Paul and his epistles and acts are the earliest. Paul disavows any personal experience of Jesus except through spiritual revelation. The names associated with the gospels are not widely held to be the physical authors of those gospels. Mark in particular has long known to have had at least two different authors.

THE FIRST EPISTLE OF CLEMENT TO THE CORINTHIANS
    St. Clement of Rome

Chap. XXV. The phoenix an emblem of our resurrection.

Let us consider that wonderful sign [of the resurrection] which takes place in Eastern lands, that is, in Arabia and the countries round about. There is a certain bird which is called a phoenix. This is the only one of its kind, and lives five hundred years. And when the time of its dissolution draws near that it must die, it builds itself a nest of frankincense, and myrrh, and other spices, into which, when the time is fulfilled, it enters and dies. But as the flesh decays a certain kind of worm is produced, which, being nourished by the juices of the dead bird, brings forth feathers. Then, when it has acquired strength, it takes up that nest in which are the bones of its parent, and bearing these it passes from the land of Arabia into Egypt, to the city called Heliopolis. And, in open day, flying in the sight of all men, it places them on the altar of the sun, and having done this, hastens back to its former abode. The priests then inspect the registers of the dates, and find that it has returned exactly as the five hundredth year was completed.

As Bill Maher says, he preferred Trump supporters when they were locked up in church. It's a toss up because they were into Gorbachev being the anti-christ in Regan's day.

But there's no question that requiring women to cover their head has been Christian practice for thousands of years:
While styles changed, the practice of head covering continued even up to the early 20th century. Christian leaders believed the head covering called for in 1 Corinthians signified women's modesty and submission, so they continued to wear whatever type of covering was in fashion at the time. Some women wore bonnets, shawls, or hats, as a part of modest attire or to designate the married from the unmarried. By the 1960s in the West, the biblical practice had become merely a tradition, so when hats fell out of syle, the practice was dropped in Christian churches too.
My aunty who had a hat shop hated when the hat craze was over - she went broke.

EDIT: And why should I rely on Muehlenberg's interpretation of that passage, when I can use Augustine's:
"It is not becoming even in married women to uncover their hair, since the apostle commands the women to keep their heads covered.. For she is instructed for this very reason to cover her head, which he is forbidden to do because he is the image of God." (St. Augustine, On the Trinity, Book XII, Chapter 7, verse 9)

    Or Irenaeus's:
Irenaeus translates 1 Corinthians 11:10 as follows: "A woman ought to have a veil [kalumma] upon her head, because of the angels." (St. Irenaeus, Against Heresies, Book 1, 8:2, cited in The Ante-Nicene Fathers, A. Cleveland Cox, ed., The Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1885, I:327).

Why should women cover their heads because of the angels? Is it because of possible poop droppings?
