    Capablanca Memorial

    The following article was published in the Sydney Morning Herald.

    Leading final scores in the Capablanca Memorial in Havana (6 players, 10 rounds) ; - Z.Almasi (HUN 2689) 6.5, Y.Quesada (CUB 2608), L.Dominguez (CUB 2723) 6. FIDE Grand Prix tournament in Zug, Switzerland. Leading final scores (12 players, 2756 average, 11 rounds) :- V.Topalov (BUL 2771) 8 a 2924 result , H.Nakamura (USA 2767) 6.5, R.Ponomariov (UKR 2733) and F.Caruana (ITA 2772) 6.

    A bit of a rating gap between the 2 events. A pity that Capa Memorial couldn't attract a stronger field. Capa was a great world champion.
