    MCC Bob Brooking Round Robins 2012

    BOB BROOKING
    ROUND ROBINS 2012


    When: Monday 19th November to Monday 17th December. 5 consecutive Monday evenings at 7pm. Entries close 6pm, Monday 19th November.

    Where: Melbourne Chess Club. 66 Leicester St. Fitzroy, 3065.

    Format: 6 player round robin tournaments. (5 rounds)

    Time Control: 90 minutes per game + 30 seconds per move. Forfeit time is 30 minutes after game begins.

    Entry Fee: $60 full, $50 concession, less $10 for MCC members. Free for GMs and IMs.

    GP: The event will be part of the 2012 MCC Grand Prix.

    Rating: The event will be FIDE and ACF rated.

    Its run as a series of 6-player round-robins, with groups decided by rating.

    Group A will be players rated 1-6; group B will be players rated 7-12; etc.

    Last year I think there was 16 players, so group C was a 4 player double round robin with an extra round, while the other groups were 6 player round robins.

    I like this tournament because you're up against a challenging opponent every round. Plus every game is crucial, because there are only 5 rounds! I look forward to it this year.

    This event is part of the MCC Grand Prix: a good chance to get some points in an event your rivals might not play.

    Richard Voon is in, though he needs to postpone his round 1 game as he is still overseas.

    Bumper field expected!!! IM Rujevic is in!!!

    A bumper field is looking like showing up for this event - which traditionally hasnt really attracted a large field! The Grand Prix points must be a big temptation!!! Anyway, here is the new list of entries, headed by IM Mirko Rujevic who confirmed his entry today!!!

    Make sure you are highly aware of your grand prix scores (see the 2012 MCC Grand Prix thread on this forum for your score!) as this is the second last event in the 2012 MCC Grand Prix! An extra point or extra half point could make all the difference!!!
