    Windows 8

Installed Windows 8 on virtual machine.
Kudos to VMWare for excellent virtualization support.
    Can't extend compliments to Microsoft.

First impression - very counter-intuitive. Not a death warrant, but they will struggle, because first impression means a lot.
My understanding is that try to mimic apple/android approach. I've been using android for some time, yet their start screen wasn't very intuitive and navigating was obscure.
Let's see what is the further experience going to be when (if?) I get used to the new interface.
Thanks again to VMWare, I can still run Windows 7 while trialling new OS.

I installed Windows 8 at work on my boss's recommendation. Stood it for nearly a whole day before ripping it off and replacing it with Windows 7.

They say Windows versions alternate between tolerable (95, 98SE, XP, 7) and less tolerable (98, ME, Vista). Since 7 is tolerable, I guess 8 is destined to be a dud.

It is clearly designed for tablet devices not PC's.

So what's your excuse? To run like the devil's chasing you.

See you in another life, brotha.

I must agree that windows 8 is a bit of a shock to the system, particulaly in regard to navigating from the initial start screen.
It has been announced by Microsoft that a new version 8.1 will be available within a few months, and will be downloadable free for W8 users.

I understand that W8.1 will enable the bypassing of the initial start screen with tiles and open in a recognisable W desktop and that a useable mail system will also be incorporated.
These enhancements should make it much more user friendly, especially for those using standard desktop and laptop PCs.
A Chess game is divided into three stages:
The first, when I hope I have the advantage,
The second when I believe I have an advantage,
And the third I when I know I'm going to lose !
