Australian and International Oldest Active Chess Players

Chess can be enjoyed at any age.
In Victoria, the oldest active chess players I believe are Eric Neimanis (92) and Olgerts Bergmanis (90) Mendel Armerman is another mature-aged yet active chess player (not sure what his exact age is though, must be about 85). Have I missed some other 80+ players?
What about other States? Any active 85+ players overseas?

Of those with a date of birth in the ACF Master file, Wolfgang Leonhardt (86 next month) is clearly the top rated active player at 1880!! I drew with him in a rated game last night at Perth Chess Club (I am 2009!!). His lightning play is surprisingly arguably stronger, he often gets the better of me (I think he won 4-2 about a month ago).

I also notice George Carey is slightly older than Wolf and rated 1641, but there may be many others without the date of birth specified.

Wilfred Richards, currently on 50% in the Brisbane Club Championship, is 97! I'm fairly sure he is the oldest active chess player in Australia, as the only two older players (those with dates-of-birth, anyway) on the Masterfile are both inactive.

I'd think that Keith Robertson and Karl Galli, both very active at ACT club level, would be 80+

Perhaps there's even hope for me then. Maybe I'll still be playing in 30 years. :-)

According to ChessBase (http://en.chessbase.com/post/wijk-aa...ir-stories-1-2), Johan van Hulst (born January 28, 1911) is a "huge chess fan" and is visiting Wijk.

Van Hulst is also an active chess player. At the age of 95 he won the Corus Chess Tournament for (former) politicians. He won the tournament again in 2010.

The oldest player active in FIDE-rated play appears to be Cordioli, Lourenco Joao (b. 1916) who played rated games in mid-2014 and would now be at least 98, possibly 99 if still alive. There is also one active player born in 1917, three in 1919, two in 1920, eight in 1921, nine in 1922 and 13 in 1923 (etc).

IM Zhukhovistky from Russia (born in 1916) has not played tournaments for some years but was a guest of honour at one of the chess events last year. While he did not play, he participated actively in analysis of the games and appeared to be moving around without a walking stick or any other ''aids''

Norm Greenwood's still playing well in his 80's. Beat 2000 player Donato Mallari only 2 days ago in Australian Day Weekender (NSW).
