2012 Darling Downs Open

Just starting a thread on Chess Chat about this tournament, because it seems to be one of the only weekenders in the next two months that doesn't clash with my rather busy timetable at the moment. So naturally, I'd like to play.

However, there is one small problem; I cant figure out a way to get to Toowoomba. Buses from Brisbane don't leave after 7pm for some strange reason and I'd be arriving in Brisbane around 8pm on the Friday, at the very earliest. So if anybody from Brissy is planning on going to this tourney on the Friday night, I'd appreciate a lift up. Going back shouldn't be a problem, I'll have all of Monday to leave I'll pay for petrol

These were the results of the Top boards. there was a few others on 2.5 &1.5.
Congratulations to Brodie Who is having great results while Moulthon and Solo are playing in the Olympiad.Note James Morris was sick this Morning and missed round four game so that explains his below par performance.I had to drive to toowoomba and take photo of draw and standing to bring you these results.Toowoomba is a Beautiful place,i will try to play next time.So should you.

Thanks Mirko, impressive field to get a picket fence in so well done to Brodie, he is enjoying the lack of strong competition in these QLD weekenders despite Jo moz and Greg turning up to this one.

Shame I couldn't play but work was calling can't miss too many weekends unfortunately. Any results from the lower divisions?

Congratulations to Brodie once again for a perfect 6 in the DDO!
He recorded wins against interstate champions Greg Canfell and James Morris as well as wins against top QUEENSLANDERS including Gene Nakauchi and Ralph Jackson. Brodie has now won three consecutive weekenders with a perfect score!

With the Queensland Championship, with a $1000 first prize, due to start shortly on Thursday September 27, even Stephen Solomon will start to worry about Brodie.

I would also like to congratulate Gareth Mills for winning the Under 1600 event too. Gareth recorded 4 upset wins in this tournament and will have to make sure he does not get tooth decay from all the Mars Bars he won!

Good luck to all in the upcoming Qld Champs, the Gold Coast Nell Van Der Graaf on Sept 22, the Redcliffe Wendy Terry on Oct 6 and the Gladstone on Oct 13!
