    Hi all,

After a review of the rules, there is an update on the rules of bughouse for the tournament:

    - Pawns will promote when they reach the last rank, and count as queens so long as they are on the board. If they are captured they revert back to pawns

The rule regarding touch move will also be revised, keep your eye out on this thread for updates.

Apologies for the changes, we were not aware of the official rules of transfers!

Have you considered a later start time for Friday night? Why start so early?

6.00 pm or even 6.30 pm seems like a brave time to be starting, to me. A lot of people (the ones with jobs outside of the education system) don't get home from work until at least then. To then have dinner and get to Waitara - have you seen the northbound traffic on Pennant Hills Road on Friday evenings? - by 1800 or even 1830 o'clock is a big ask. I live relatively close to Waitara, and don't have to worry about getting home from work, but I'm still going to be struggling to have dinner and reach Waitara by even 1830.

    Hey Whatteux,

Yes it's looking like we will be starting from at least 7. If people turn up at 7 we'll be able to put them into the first round draw.

    Thanks for the tip!

OK that's great. I was a bit worried that the earlier start might scare people off and limit your starting numbers, which would be a pity. See yous tonight, then!

    Cancelled.

The Hornsby Series of chess has been unfortunately cancelled. Don't show up on Saturday and Sunday, judging by the level of interest here the Hornsby Series of Chess will be unviable and has been cancelled.
Early entrants will have their money refunded.
Many thanks to players that have entered or expressed interest in entry to this event, we hope not to let you guys down in the future.

Kev and I are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Edit: For the players that showed up, Event 1 was held anyway with a double round robin- Results- 1st Brendan Norman 8.5/10 2nd Kevin "Kev" Tan 7/10 3rd Nick Deen-Cowell 6/10
    Congrats all.
