Interesting games, looks like Xie was pawn up in the endgame..then lost!
Also, Dale was crushing Rujevic but went astray.

Max a great escape at the end v Andrew Brown. He should have lost with 2 connected P's v him. But Andrew played too many checks instead of pushing the pawns and allowed Rb3 winning R for P on 7th rank. Maybe time trouble? It was then drawn. Exciting stuff!

I think that was much harder than it looked. Andrew could have played 84...e3 85.Rb3 Rxb3 when he queens with a won queen ending. But saying it is won and actually winning it are two different things.

Im assuming that there is a mistake in the recording of the game Brown vs Xie? Or did Xie somehow overpress trying to win that position? I cant see any way that he could lose with best play...

True, "The Airedale Terrier" had a great position! But Rujevic is a very very good defender and he is very very practical (I know Ive played him 5 or 6 times and let him off the hook a number of times)...

Its a pitty, because I really really wanted to unleash Ari's new nickname when he had a big win against someone!

    Ifs don't win tournaments

Dusan Stojic is the MCC champion and my clubmate at Noble Park CC. If he can't do it nobody can!

This is not over yet, GO DUSAN!!! LOL problem is that for a Victorian to do something a Max's loss ain't enough.

We need Karl to beat Stephen, and then hope for more positive results in the last round! In other words the situation doesn't look very rosy for Victorians.

If James's VCE exams did not interfere and Box Hill Chess CLub's stars (Cheng, Wallis, Matheson amongst them) played it would have been a different story!
