This thread is to outline Nano Chess developmental timeline and philosophy.

May 2012 : The first game of Nano Chess was played on Fics in May 2012 between jimmyenglish and Kaitliin

You can play it in FICs and there are games in my FICs stats on thier site if you just want to examine a played game.

No ... thats just normal chess on a very small screen

Nano Chess rules:

1. All pieces retain thier checking powers (and need not to be able to take for a check to work)
.
2. Pieces can only move 1 square at a time, however the Knight moves as in normal chess and is therefor the fastest piece (as it is on a horse)
.
3. Castling is allowed.

In Nano Chess you have effectively won when you forestall the enemy, so you must train well to attain this ... and you must play decisively to do this, not slow..

Incorrect ... everyone at first thinks Nano Chess is going to be slow and easy ..untill they play it.

Then they say ... this is much more difficult than I imagined.

In Nano Chess , positional play very important. In normal chess you can zoom and block a check, in Nano Chess you will find that a most checks come from hidden checks and a piece being moved out of the line. Forestalling your opponent in Nano Chess is a good strategy. But you cannot move slow you must move decisively. This does not mean that you always attack first; but if the opponent attacks first you can lead him around. In strategy, you have effectively won when you forestall the enemy, so you must train well to attain this.

In Nano Chess you learn that people are much more afraid of losing a piece than gaining position ... and will give up a good position to save a piece ... such is the way of Nano

You would think so.. but .. ..because people who haven't tried it think it is going to be slow and boring, when it slowly dawns on them that it isn't, the pre-curser leading up to this fact sinking in, produces heaps of carbon contributing gases..
