Seeing we have open and women's olympiad polls I thought it was time for someone to post a poll for the U16 olympiad. Please select 5.

Good work Mr Pawn, this is a very important decision to be made since we need to have (i) our strongest team there and (ii) to think of individual careers of players as well.
One question before I vote please.
Can one player be selected for both the Mens' and the U16 Olympiad teams? Thanks in advance!

Yes they can be selected for both the Mens' and U16 Olympiad teams; these tournaments are at different times (actually almost directly after each other I think) in the Turkey.
won't matter as much with this one however as unlike the main olympiad the under 16 olympiad can have as many teams from as many countries as they want. I remember playing this same tournament back in 2007 when Australia sent 4 teams - I think they're aiming for 3-4 this time as well.
Thanks for the response Mr. Pawn and Alana!

It's great to see all of the top eligible players nominate for this.
This one was actually slightly different - all the players who nominated were actually part of the Under 16 Olympiad squad which was chosen by Ian Rogers.
On Saturday April 12 (today) at 17.00 10 members of our U/16 Squad, 5 boys and 5 girls, will take on an Indonesian team in an internet match on Chess Cube.
Spectators can watch the games, and chat via the Cafe Noir within Chess Cube.
I think Ian means April 21 (today)![]()
Indonesia win 6.5-3.5.
We expected to dominate on the top 3 boards, with Bobby, Yi and Laurence, but came away with only 1/3.
Are the games somewhere for non-chess cube members Ian?Originally Posted by Ian_Rogers

Unfortunately I can't even find them on the Chess Cube site any more. Maybe someone else can retrieve them?
Big thanks to Ian for spending many hours organising this match; pity we couldn't quite deliver on the day but the Indonesians played well.
