Draw for round 3 is below. This is the last possible round for people to enter the tournament late. Looks like the top seeds are starting to meet one another this round, which should make for some interesting games.

I agree! He played really well against me.

I missed a win twice, deep in the ending, but only when we were short of time and he had been making life very difficult for me for ages, despite my extra prawn.

I made the same miscalculation twice, thinking that if I won a piece by pushing my passed prawn he had a way of swapping my last prawns off... but actually it's not quite possible and I win by a tempo. Lesson is that it's hard to calculate long variations once you're down to your increment.

Incidentally, Anthony and I both overlooked a strong move for him in the Queenless middlegame that would have won him a prawn for nothing, a complete bolt from the blue that Houdini revealed.

Last week I was lost in the final position against David Lacey, who also played extremely well. I know it sounds self serving to claim everyone is playing well against me, but ratings are not always a good guide these days and computer analysis showed that both games really were pretty well played. I've beaten strong players in much worse games than those two draws! So although it's tempting to claim rust, that would definitely be disrespecting my opponents.

Onwards and upwards! Gotta get back into the small room

The phrase is best used sparingly, lest the audience be 'prassed off'.

I had a tough game against Harris about 2 years ago. Just looked it up and I drew with him when he was rated 940

    Good luck!

I've allowed a player to join the tournament late (even though I had previously said that entries would close at round 3), as the new player was keen to play & it avoids a bye in the tournament (there are now 48 players).
There are also two games that will be played on the following Wednesday night (29th), so the round 5 draw will most likely be available from the early hours of Thursday morning rather than early on Wednesday night.

    Round 4 draw:

I was going to say something about this, but I thought it best (at least in the post with the draw) to remain neutral!
