Guam is in my "places to visit" list! It's a paradise on earth, quite high cost of living ($US is their currency) but well you can't please them all! I wouldn't go there to play chess though so Brian the $750 is safe!

So what sort of strength is right for the Guam International? 2200, 2000 or what? Just curious.

Michael, why you keep making the same point over and over. I think everybody is tired of you making the comparison that you are 2300 player, which means you are stronger than any Jones family members (except for Garry) because they are 2100s.

Ok, I am 2400. Should I constantly go to the MCC lightning thread and say something like: "Michael is winning only because I am not playing. He is my client. I have 100% score against him. How could you lose to this sapog, valenok, etc?"

The objective is to get FIDE ratings for the seven Guam players who are probably sub-2000. So we need overseas rated players in the 1500-2100 range.

No, the computer is very new and a good one. Just something about that attachment it doesn't handle, not sure why. Doesn't matter.

Then the ideal tournament would comprise them vs seven players rated in that range, with all players in one team playing all players in the other. Twice, maybe, so they'd all be credited with 14 games..

FIDE decided not to rate Scheveningen tournaments/matches involving unrated players back in 2000.

FIDE did vote to not rate Scheveningen tournaments with unrated players (from immediate effect) which has been seen in the past as the most effective way of manufacturing rated players.

I am unsure if this decision has changed since then.
