Anton has made a good start with a draw against FM Arthur Muromtsev rated 2240. He plays WFM Varvara Repina rated 2280 in the second round.

Good to hear he is off to a good start - hope he is recovering from what must have been a bewildering and disappointing situation with the incidents in his last round game in the last tournament.

Yes, that was pretty boring game. They exchanged all the pieces except for a pair of knights and some pawns. In a dead drawn position Anton claimed 3 times repetition.

On the other hand, not a bad result against a higher rated opponent playing black, it was a good way to build up some confidence. The next game will be tougher though, he will be playing an 18 year old Russian girl.

Good luck to Anton. Anyway, he is too young to be distracted by 18 yo girls...so hopefully will be able to focus on the chess board and win!

Yes, current Russian under 18 champion was clearly too good for Anton.

How do you know this? I'm 75 and am distracted by 18yo girls so why shouldn't he be at the other end of the scale

PS The chess is a great experience for Anton and I hope he goes well too.
...I don't want to go among mad people Alice remarked, "Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: we're all mad here. I am mad. You're mad." "How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat ,"or you wouldn't have come here."
