Do many charities look at the whole picture? The Save the Children Fund when pulling at our empathy buttons advertise that 15,000 children die needlessly each day. That is one child every 5 seconds.

They don't also ask whether 15,000 children were needlesdly conceived and born every day.

The situation is like a dog chasing it's tail. And when all those excess children mature they will require more resources that will further exacerbate environmental and social problems. Most recent wars can be linked to the necessity for more resources.

Eventually those 15,000 children per day become 5.5m per annum. Within 30 years they may have produced another 35m children. So over 30 years that extra 15k per day multiplies to about a billion extra people requiring more resources. Then that billion begin the same process and our planet and peace is shot.

But conservatives who advocate balanced budgets are opposed to a balanced environment.

As that is also a political act that has opposition and consequences a more simple and direct response is to provide free birth control measures that often cannot be afforded.

Far from perfect examples for sure. Interesting they both attempted birth control with very mixed results. Many young couples are unilaterally deciding to restrict breeding due to the calamitous state of the world. But unfortunately they are a tiny minority

Because they are on commission I don't donate. Or they want perpetual donations - no thanks. I stopped donating to environmental groups due to that.

This thread is majoring on minors. A far greater problem is what Reagan said:

No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!

One reason a government program is far worse than a charity is that donations are coerced rather than voluntary. So there is no incentive to use money wisely. In fact, there is an incentive to grow the bureaucracy and increase spending, because this increases the power and salary of the leading bureaucrats.

Consider how much damage has been inflicted on the environment in the past forty years by those extra souls all desiring First World conditions. As well all the pain inflicted on that extra population being refugees and deprived of decent food, shelter and clothing - including even Americans.

Massive amounts still spent on armaments that could probably "solve" the human problem. Those armaments are a result if competition for resources - the world and well as those charities are chasing their tails with a big cracker up their bum.

Children are dying from malnutrition or freezing to death in Yemen and Jordan and Syria. Are those deaths caused by neglect?

Those stats are not hard to find, and demonstrate the opposite. In 1990, the number of births was about 140 million, while the infant mortality rate was 64 per 100 000 live births; 2020 had the same number of births, but the infant mortality rate had dropped dramatically to 28 per 100 000.
