    LXG Games Club in Brisbane

    League of Extraordinary Gamers

    The League of Extraordinary Gamers (LXG) is a tabletop games club located in Brisbane, Australia. We were established as a family friendly club that recognises the social and educational benefits of playing games. Younger players are organised into structured games at each meeting, allowing their parents to play games and socialise with other adults.

    We meet at the Cavendish Rd High School Assembly Hall every 3rd Sunday of the month from 9am 'til 5pm. Free parking is available from the Holland Park Road gate.

    We all genres of games - boardgames, role-playing games, miniatures , collectible card games and anything else that seems to look interesting! We have plenty of 8' x 4' tables & terrain for miniatures enthusiasts, as well as tables suitable for smaller games.

    LXG is supported by the Commonwealth, State and Local Government has established the largest games Library in Australia that its members can borrow from on a monthly basis.

    Meetings have a relaxed & social atmosphere. They are an ideal time to learn the rules of a new game, or practice for a tournament. LXG also runs two tournaments each year featuring popular game titles - one runs in February and one in August. They are called Legends of Summer and Legends of Winter, respectively.

    In addition, every July, LXG hosts a very popular 'gaming holiday getaway' at a recreation facility in Warwick. this sis called "Winter Retreat".

    the club venue, the Cavendish Road State High Assembly Hall, is a spacious area with a canteen and we have inexpensive food and drinks available on the club day, or you can bring your own and put it in the fridge.

    Membership fees are as follows:
    $50 per year;
    $30 for concessions;
    $60 for families (includes two adults and children)

    Your first visit is always free - so drop in and play a few games and, if you like the atmosphere, consider becoming a member.

    Please do drop in sometime. We have an extensive library of European Boardgames and have just received $3,000 worth of new games from a recent grant that will be made available at the meeting on the 19th of September.

    Regards,

    Keith

    We have a about 12 boys and girls in the age group 7 - 12 years who play games amonst themselves and with adults.

    We do have traditional games like Snakes and Ladders, Trouble, Junior Monopoly, Mouse Trap, Jenga and Twister. we also have wonderful European board games that the younger players like that include;

    Kids of Catan
    Labyrinth
    Cha-Cha Chicken
    Zooleretto
    That's Life!
    Kitten Chaos
    Pig Pile
    Dawn Under
    Ghost Chase

    ...to name a few.

    The full listing of the dates for the rest of the year and location details are on our web-site at:

    Hope to see you at one of the meetings in the future.

    PS: the club does have copies of Talisman and if you liked Talisman, you will also like "Tales of the Arabian Nights" and "Touch of Evil" that have similar game mechanics of 'visit places, defeat enemies and get stronger. Also very popular are co-operstive games, whereby the players must help each other or the game system wins. Titles using a co-operative system include: "Lord of the Rings", "Battlestar Galactica", "Pandemic", "Shadows Over Camelot" and "Defenders of the Realm"

    Regards,

    Keith
