    'Chess'

This is my first ever chess pic, painted in acrylic. A slightly strange composition (by the time it became clear to me I had gone too far to rectify the situation ... a bit like some of my more awkward openings) but I enjoyed doing it.

    great pix

    Hi,
Loved the painting but a bit worrying actually. The guy with the rookhead reminds me of a player I know here in Adelaide.

Good stuff Jean. Let's hope there's more to come

    Well done

You are obviously a good artist, Jean. Keep at it!

Thanks everyone. I thought it might be nice to show it to some actual chess players (rather than non-playing family); see whether it made sense to you. Glad it seems to as it was a lot of fun. Might do another.

    Jean!!!

Jean! That's great work! I loved it, I absolutely adored it! I will not fall into the genre (ification) trap although Fauvism came to mind at first sight! May I please suggest an exhibition of your chess related and other works soon?
If it coincided with a major Chess tournament even better!
    Great work!

Your next one could be dedicated to duggan

Have the tromp on the board with a bishop bashing his revenge on the player, with the player crying over the departed bishop on the board.

It was a pleasant surprise to see this painting. Free art ;-)

I was wondering if the player was worried about a) his pieces are too big or b) the board is too small c) his arms are too skinny to lift the pieces.

I said you enjoyed doing it - so I hope more WILL follow.
Scott.. enjoying Melbourne and Wyndham Chess Club and Hobsons Bay Chess club!

lol, any interpretation is fine by me but I think all he cares about is the chess position in his head.

Iíve got a fairly time consuming illustration job at the moment (after a rather quiet period things are looking up ) but once thatís done, Iíll get back to the chess paintings Ö !

Watto, if you were up Nimbin doing that painting the subject may have a something nasty hanging out of their arm - dat would make a social statement about watto chess did to him. But there is a guy there who is willing to put his missus as winner take all bait. Would you believe that, he is also quite a player I am led to believe.
