    Linares 2010

This year it is only a six-player 2RR, a format I generally find a bit dull.

Games start 2 am our time I think. Tonight is a rest day.

    After four rounds:

    +1 Topalov, Grischuk
    = Aronian, Vallejo
    -1 Gashimov, Gelfand

Only two decisive games from 12 to this point and they were:

    Topalov - Gashimov

    Grischuk - Gelfand

Of the drawn games those in round 3 were all pretty interesting.

A pretty underwhelming field compared to Linares' of the past.

Yes, Topalov missed a relatively easy (for his level) win in round 8 too.

Interestingly the Linares event does not appear to be listed on the FIDE website as being registered in either the March or May rating periods.

If FIDE were to follow their regulations Linares should not be rated.
