On a good day I can give most FMs a serious run for their money. On a not-so-good day I can play a bunch of uninspired moves in the middlegame and get positionally embarrassed off the board. Like this:

    This is too cruel!

I had only just started playing then! I have got a bit better (not a lot, but better than this)

Jenni, it was four years ago, so I'm sure you have gotten better since then. This tournament was actually only my second adult tournament I'd played in. Looking back I'm thinking perhaps my best chess is behind me now, hehe. At any rate, it's a nice game to show my students

Probably at a level to which they can relate.

My problem is I am too lazy to learn any openings/defences. However seeing this game has inspired me to knuckle down and do a bit more work. (Oh if only threre was more time!)

I have played Gareth charles once (Newc open this year)
I have played Alexmdc a couple of times (at least once)
I have not played Jenni oliver but i have played gareth oliver (tuggeranong Vikings last year.... an interesting KI Defence if i remember correctly)
Acutally if my memory serves me correctly i think i played against a couple of the oliver family a couple of years ago in Toukley u2000 (perhaps in 2002??)

Lee had half an hour left to my four minutes. My day got better from there with wins over Capilitan and Xie.

Yeah, it was. You were there and Kordahi was DOP; you were very animated and giving him a hard time over all sorts of things.

Bonham (1943) - Rosario (1640), Hobart Weekender round 5. Short and sharp, but there's quite a few lines found by Fritz that we didn't see in the postmortem. In particular it surprises me that if 12...Bxe4 then 13.f3 doesn't work.

This game had a few things in common with another game I played only a week and a half ago. Same move length, same ...a6 being too slow because after Bxc6 Bxc6 Black cannot recover the pawn without complications.
