Is there a reason for Tan Thanh Nguyen not appearing in the Top Ten Quick list? (1883). He was deemed eligible enough for the State Lightning title.

He has not yet been transferred from NSW to Tas on the ratings list. I requested he be transferred but it usually takes one rating cycle for these changes to take effect, sometimes longer.

When I compile my classic Top Ten list I take account of players who are incorrectly listed and either include or omit them as appropriate. However I am not tracking the quick list.

By the way on the revised classic list the active players have generally lost 3 points from the list with ratings above.

There was an unusual bug in the processing of ratings of the 2017 Hobart Champs that has resulted in a number of players becoming a bit underrated, and this will be fixed on the December ACF ratings list.

The bug resulted from the event being submitted when one game had not been played in order to make the previous ratings list. The missing result caused Vega to treat all the last round games as double losses. Players who won in the final round are particularly affected.

For the purposes of these lists I'll just update when December comes out, but I'm around where Alastair and Ian are and Scott is around where Reg is.

The most important news in Tassie ratings this quarter is that Michael Baldini finally has a classic rating!

The classic top ten is Friebe, Bonham, Dyer, Rout, McMahon, Peirce, Harvey, Cohen, Nguyen and D Rolph. (Nguyen still listed under NSW).

I was last number 2 in June 2007 and won't be there much longer! There will be more shakeups next quarter.

The quick top ten is Pirotais (2443??), Friebe, Dyer, Rout, Pearce, Straton, McMahon, Nguyen, Bonham, D Rolph

Jerome Pirotais has still played only 7 Classic games so doesn't have an ACF rating yet.

The new top ten is Friebe, Bonham, Dyer, Rout, McMahon, Peirce, Harvey, Cohen, D Rolph and Straton. Straton's rating is pulled down by old games; he is stronger than 1659. I haven't counted Bemrose who is still listed under Tasmania but hasn't lived here for a long time.

The new quick top ten is Small (2416), Pirotais (2399), Friebe, Rout, Dyer, Peirce, Straton, McMahon, Bonham, Nguyen.

[edit: I believe these are being reviewed]

Ian Rout is the new Tasmanian number 1, the first time he has been on top. Martin Friebe has fallen off the main list for inactivity and Jerome Pirotais still doesn't yet have enough main list games. Toby Straton jumps six places off his Tas Champs equal first (and is still in my view a little bit underrated!)

The new top ten is: Rout, Dyer, Bonham, Straton, McMahon, Peirce, Cohen, Harvey, Lee, Smith. (Again: Bemrose not counted, not in Tasmania.)

The new quick top ten is: Small, Pirotais, Friebe, Rout, Dyer, Bonham, Peirce, Straton, McMahon and Cox.

Jerome Pirotais is the new Tasmanian number 1 as he finally has enough main list games. The other new entries are Dylan Kuzmic off a strong Burnie club championships (second behind Ian Rout in terms of raw scores, not sure about the conversion formula!) and Aidan Cox finally making it in in equal tenth place.

The new top ten is: Pirotais, Rout, Bonham, Straton, McMahon, Peirce, Cohen, D Kuzmic, Harvey, Lee tied with Cox. (Again: Bemrose not counted, not in Tasmania.)

The new quick top ten is: Small, Pirotais, Rout, Straton, Bonham, Dyer, Peirce, McMahon, Cox and D Kuzmic.

There were no changes to the Tasmanian classic top ten in the current list because no tournaments were rated and no-one in the top ten became inactive.

The new quick top ten is: Small, Pirotais, Rout, Straton, Dyer, Bonham, Peirce, McMahon, Wagg and Cox.

There were again no changes to the top ten (with only 2 players active) except that Derek Roebuck reappeared in 4th place, but I assume he played outside Tasmania, so I'm not including him in my tracking at this stage. (I'm also unsure whether we'll see any more of Jerome here - he may have left the state - so it may be Ian Rout is the real #1 now).

The new quick top ten is Small, Pirotais, Rout, Straton, Dyer, Peirce, McMahon, Bonham, Wagg, Harvey. I fall two places on account of a poor Aus Blitz and Harvey comes in after winning the Burnie blitz with a perfect score.

Yes, he played in the Perth Open (and is also playing at the Metro club here).

I'm treating Jerome as having left the state though he is still listed as Tas for now; on that basis:

The classic active top ten is Rout, Bonham, Straton, McMahon, Peirce, D Kuzmic, Cox, Nguyen, Baldini (new entry) and Harvey. Cohen and Lee are temporarily off based on the active list time limit but both are playing in the Hobart Champs at the moment.

The quick active top ten is Small, Rout, Straton, Bonham, D Kuzmic, Dyer, Peirce, McMahon, Nguyen and Harvey tied with Wagg.
