Sorry, bobby. It was meant to be a psychoanalytical satire, since a lot of it has been discredited, not directed towards you. I should have made that clearer.

AR, here is one esp for Pinoys!

You tell me a poor man has no right to have a large family. You say his doing so is not honest, is a positive injury to his country and to humanity. I tell you you are wrong and I'll prove it. My father was a poor man, a very poor man. My father was an honest man, a very honest man. Well, he had thirteen children, and I, Wilhelm Steinitz, the Chess Champion of the world, I am the thirteenth! Wilhelm Steinitz

Tal - On becoming world blitz champion said, he was glad of the opportunity once more of becoming an ex-world champion...
No this is silly, the whole premise is silly and very badly written. I'm the senior officer here and I've not had a funny line yet so I'm stopping it.

During a training camp I was running today some players were commenting on a game that was meant to be under semi-serious conditions. I said the usual "ssh! no advice" kind of line and one of Hobart's stronger juniors who had heard the moves suggested said this:

It's not advice if it's bad.

Perhaps this has no chess revelance whatsoever...

The best quote which links in with this story I have heard was from a mate who was pulled over by a policeman in Far North Queensland for speeding on his motorbike.

The police turned off the siren, ambled up to him on his bike and said.

"Do you see that sign there?" Pointing at the blaently obvious speed control sign.

My mate, noted for quick of mind and tounge said "Yes"

"Do you know what it's for?" asked the cocky policeman pulling out his paperwork.

"Yeah...Well there is a circle around the number one hundred in the middle"

"Do you know what it means?" pulling his pen from his pocket pressed the policeman.

"Yeah...it means you can do around a hundred!" replied my smartass mate.

Stunned but equal to the task of wit, the policeman replied.

"Well if thats so, how about I write you a speeding ticket of say around....$150"

The morale of this is, becareful who you think you are smarter than! And always play by the rules.

    Enjoy your day!

    Best Chess Quotes

I'm not sure if there's already a thread like this, but whenever you hear a good chess quote, post it here. I'll start off with a quote I saw at chessgames.com today: "Whoever sees no other aim in the game than that of giving checkmate to one's opponent will never become a good chessplayer." ---Max Euwe. Another good quote can be seen in my sig
"I give 98 percent of my mental energy to chess. Others give only 2 percent." -- Bobby Fischer
