IM James Morris will be hosting a lecture about "Understanding Positional Fundamentals" in about 1.5 hours time (Or 7:00 p.m start time) at the Chess Centre.
$10 normal or $7 concession.
There is no need to contact anyone, simply come in, if you got the time on your hands :)
Please note, the parking situation will be sticky, due to the Port Adelaide match at the same time.
Parking for Susan's tournament however should be less of a problem.

Aaron should give a better summary, but based of the standings, congrats to our visiting titled players GM Johansen, IM Morris and Alan Goldsmith on sharing equal first. :clap: It's must be a South Australian thing to have equal first in our tournaments :P
Some other excellent results include from juniors including Aris Giouvantsioudis, who is criminally underrated, (as IM Morris pointed out) and Athena, who is future star chess player and also Dino Cinco (Not a junior) who had 2 big scalps and a player to watch out for at SACA tournaments.

For anyone playing tonight, an evacuation siren went off for 10-15 minutes after play started, at the apartments situated next to us.
The siren was very much audible to everyone in the room, distracting for most players, but play did continue, presuming that the siren would eventually stop.
The MFS responded to the siren very quickly, but presumably were going through floor by floor to make sure the all clear was given, before being able to switch the alarm off.
We're not sure, but more then likely, someone in the apartment accidentally pressed the fire alarm.
You can't say Inter-club isn't full of surprises :eek:

$3000 prizes for the Open Tournament, with $1000 for 1st place :eek:
Nearly $1000 in prizes for U1600
FIDE Open: First Round on Friday 6th of July at 7:00 p.m
Under 1600: First Round starts at 9:00 a.m on Saturday Morning 7th of July
FIDE Open is FIDE and ACF Rated with 90 minutes + 30 Second a move, while U1600 is ACF Rated 60 minutes +10 second a move
6 Round Swiss tournament, U1600: 3 Rounds on Saturday on Sunday
Open:1 Round on Friday Night, 3 Rounds on Saturday and 2 Rounds on Sunday
Players are allowed 1 1/2 point bye for both tournaments in Round 1-5
I realise the difficulty of the 3 rounds on Saturday for the Open Tournament. There were however many things we had to take into account, such as this not being a long weekend, giving players who don't have a FIDE Rating a better chance to get one and not going too far for the Sunday Night. SA hasn't had FIDE Weekend Tournaments for a long time, but we're happy to have it nonetheless and of course review what we can do in future.
