Hi, was wondering if someone could provide some information about this tournament, as its next weekend. The address of the venue is on the nswca site but would to know the scheldule, please.

DUBBO RSL OPEN
WHEN: Saturday 28th - Sunday 29th March, Registration 10:00am-10:30am on Saturday
WHERE: Dubbo RSL Club, Corner Brisbane and Wingewarra Streets, Dubbo
FORMAT: 6 rounds
TIME LIMIT: 1 hour + 10 seconds per move
ENTRY FEE: $40 adult, $35 concession, $20 junior
PRIZES: $350 first prize guaranteed
Weather will be great!
Stay an extra day and visit our famous zoo.

Now this looks interesting, anyone else from Victoria going? My calendar is agreeable, only problem is Friday night tournament at Box Hill and Monday night tournament at MCC! Still tempted though! Thanks for the info Bill and Met!
hmmm cheap accommodation in very good hotels too! Very very tempted! :)

Registration:
Saturday 10:00am 10:30am

Prize Money:
$350 first prize guaranteed
Divisional and Junior prizes subject to number of entries

Entry fees:
Adults $40, Concession $35, Juniors $20
Cheques payable to Dubbo RSL Chess Club

Rate of Play:
60 minutes + 10 sec per player.

NB All NSW players are required to be either full or associate members of the NSW Chess Association to have their games rated. Membership can be arranged on the day.

Spoke with Sandy earlier this week. Never guaranteed, but it looks as though that magical number 40 is getting very frightened.

Dubbo would have to rate as one of the best tournaments, the playing venue is excellent, player facilities are first class, and the hosts are great, plus it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to stay and play.

It's reported on chessexpress (http://chessexpress.blogspot.com/2009/03/dubbo-weekender-day-2.html) that the crucial Castor-Samar game in Round 4 was decided by mobile phone.
