Box Hill member Kam Lee featured on Chesspublishing.com when John Watson answered in depth a query Kam made about a new idea of his in the Alekhine.

Yes the position Kam was asking about is here: http://www.chesspublishing.com/content/6/index.htm#ale

Alas CP is a paysite so those wishing to read will need to be paid up or pay up.

Kam was showing me this line over Xmas-NY and we analysed some rather wild positions arising from it (doubtless inaccurately!); I'll be interested to find out what Watson made of it sometime.

(Kam is an ex-Hobart player who played in many tournaments here in the late 80s and quite often comes down over NY).

9...f5 is just another move: not good, not bad..its just another playable move. Similar idea is common in some lines of Gruenfeld Defence.
