I think that for media coverage and optimum human interest the best bet is to have some of VIc's top kids play simuls to raise money
If Darryl and others come on board with commentary or appearances
I think we would have a winner...surely in Fed square or something

I think some of the little ones like Bobby Cheng or Anurag would be crowd pleasers?

And certainly Sally as a girl would do the same

Would appreciate some feed back some ideas and some help?

Sounds an excellent idea

Perhaps Justaknight might be able to use his media ties to get some coverage on TV too, which might be very beneficial to the cause of the fires. They had the Olympians visiting the other day, which got good press, this should do the same.

Take care and God Bless, Macavity

I am thinking State Library?

thinking some title holders to grab media attention

ratings mean nothing to the general public

Sounds like a very good idea if you can get strong juniors who are up for it.

Money to a worthy cause + good publicity for chess.

the problem is last time I tried to organise anything with chess, CV refused to help or let me as I am not a member.
They were happy for me to do all the work as long as I paid up my membership.
Well not QUITE like that but you get my drift
So for me to approach anyone I need some cred behind me
But on the kids we thought ( we being me and undisclosed others)
Sally as she was the Aus junior girls champ
Cedric as the junior champion
James (even tho he is my son) as he has a title..FM
We need one other
with titles
as the public don't understand or want to be bothered about ratings
I was hoping for another girl
Obviously and with apologies for interstate brilliant juniors they need to be Victorian ( for publicity)
I have not approached any kids (not even james)
But I would need some help.......

I would be happy to play in the simul if you can get something organised :)

Luthien Russell recently moved to Victoria, so she is another strong girl junior if you are looking for one, although she doesnt have a title.

It sounds like a good idea:lol:
