Also, I'm looking forward to how the games on boards 1, 3, and 4 go.

This is my first post on the forum, but I need to defend the rights of Svetozar and myself as they have clearly been infringed by the poster “EBT”.

EBT, what you say is completely untrue and is very insulting to our image in the chess community. You need to sit in your armchair and hide behind an anonymous internet name while you write “older brother” and “younger brother” instead of using our names. If you have any sense of decency, post your name in this forum and say exactly what you mean. It is very cowardly and rude to insult someone like you did.

Maybe you are still sad after "letting me beat you".;) I am sure you aren’t much of a player anyway – you have no sense of sportsmanship or even manners.

Comments like EBT's may sometimes be made as "jokes" but can easily come out the wrong way or be taken seriously.

FWIW, not knowing the personalities involved at all, I took the comment as entirely innocuous and thought the subsequent post from Dusan to be an overreaction of monumental proportions.

Certainly (all things being equal) the comment could be read two ways, and even then why couldn't Dusan have pressed for a clarification of intent?

Certainly I support Kev's comment about 'jokes' being required to be seen as such - and the onus of clarity is on the poster - not the reader! Perhaps we are in an 'orrible grey area. I'm leaving now (as the most mistunderstood poster on the BB)

Having had the honour and the pleasure to know the Stojic family for the last five years I can assure you that I fully understand and justify Dusan's reaction.
Both Svetozar and Dusan have been brought up with the highest of principles in all aspects of life be it sports, academic and social achievements as well as manners and behavioural attitudes.
They exhibit those virtues in every tournament they participate not only in Victoria but all over Australia and that is a fact known to all of the people who know the boys and cherish their company and presence alongside them.
Maybe, living in an age where aggression, vulgarity, and arrogance have prevailed, we are surprised to face reactions such that of Dusan!
However, it is also encouraging to know that there are some young people who stand up and defend their principles, decency and high standards the way Dusan did.
Personally, I find young Dusan's reaction preferable to some hysterical bragging and Fischer like egotistical self appraisal!
After all I believe that most of our youngsters in this Forum would have reacted the same way if their sporting honour was put in question even in a joking manner!

I know EBT and think he was joking.

Yeah, on consideration it is clearer to me now that it was a joke, and I've edited my comment accordingly. What EBT is probably saying is that the younger brother generally wins (being the stronger player), and that in such a situation, although there was no actual letting somebody win, the older brother might joke that that was what happened. Seems harmless enough, but still, humour doesn't always transmit well on the internet.

Hi Dusan,

My comment was meant as a joke, in the context Kevin explains above. I thought the dancing emoticon would communicate that.

Still, looking at it now, it would have been easy for others to take the comment the wrong way. The comment was also totally unnecessary and tactless. I can only offer my unreserved apology for that.

I had a look at the games at the noblepark web site. Interesting - especially Tan-Voon and Morris-Pyke.

But the game Eugene-Anurag is incomplete, I wonder if we can get the complete game? It was a very interesting one, and when kibitzing I thought Anurag was going to win after a really nice sacrifice.
Than at one point he had the Queen and a pawn for a rook and a Knight. But he didn't take an easy pawn ... and suddenly the game turned around

Ok, rond 4 results, round 5 pairings nd games are up on the website http://www.nobleparkchess.org.au/ch2009.html

Justin Tan is still a sole leader after defeating Malcolm Pyke. Just a reminder that next Saturday there is no play due to Ballarat so round 5 is in 2 weeks...

Hi everyone,

Today was the last round of Noble Park Club Championships. Going into the last, Dusan Stojic was leading the event by half a point, and he managed to win his last round game against Omar Bashar to confirm the tournament win with 7.5/9. Equal second were Svetozar Stojic who beat Abdulwahab Rashid in a pawn endgame and Justin Tan showing his good form where he achieved good results. both with 6.5/9 Malcolm Pyke missed a chance to tie for equal second only managing a draw with Laurence Matheson after a really long game. Incidentally, a draw gave Laurence Matheson the best junior prize with 5.5./9. In rating group A, there was equal first between Anurag Sannidhanam and Joerg Wallmueller with 5/9, while in rating group B Joseph Sy was outright first with 5/9.

So here are the last round results and final standings.

A very fine effort and congratulations to the wiiners and all participants in this strong tournament!
I am actually amazed by the number of participants in various tournaments of Victorian Chess events at this time of the year! Noble Park Chess Club's performance is a fine example of this fact!
