With the the latest freestyle tournament coming to a close (outright winner decided, one game remaining), time to start collecting entries and discussing rules I guess for next non freestyle tournament.

Who wants in?

From the experience of the last couple of tournaments with the 30 days plus 3 moves per day time control, I think the initial number of days could be reduced to 14.

Will start the tournament once we get a decent number of players.

30 days plus 3 moves per day time control <- explain in twenty words or less

and what if you cant make your moves on one day..does that void the 3 moves a day rule or cna you catch up later

Hi Kaitlan

The last couple of tournaments have had a time control of 30 days plus 3 days per move. You also had to make at least one move per week.

So if you made 3 moves really quickly you would have 39 days (30 + 3 + 3 +3) and then if your fourth move took 5 days you would be down to 34 days.

If your days run out, or you dont make at least one move in one week (seven days) then you lose on time.

Does that make sense ? Sorry to go over the twenty word limit.

cheers
Garrett.

Hmm, 4 players total and 2 of those players I have real concerns about their ability to not time out.

Is anyone else interested? Should I try and run another freestyle tournament instead?

I won't be up for another freestyle tournament for at least six months as I want to spend more time annotating my old games. That said, others may be; the current one has been quite well supported.

kjenhager, are you aware of the rules or would you like them explained?

Based on long experience of running tournaments on here, I will not be including the new potential entrant in the tournament at this stage. This is based on previous history of accepting unknown players who then turn out to be completely unreliable, creating more hassles than they are worth.

If kjenhager can at least respond to this post, plus answer the question already posed to him by this Sunday, I may change my mind.

Since Boris, Garrett and Kaitlin all entered the 960 Tournament, which has started, they might not be up for playing in two tournaments at once. Then again, they might. I find playing in one of these things demanding enough on my time that I'd have to be completely nuts to play two at once.

Desmond

I would be willing to play both at once if the numbers stay low.

Is there anyone else wanting to play, since therealdeal has not confirmed his entry, he will not be entered at this stage.

Garvinator

I will start the tournament in two days from now with these entrants:

Boris
Garrett
Zwischenzug
kjenhager
Kaitlin

Those that are wanting to enter, or who have expressed interest, but have not confirmed that they are entering, had better do so or you will miss out.

Have Kaitlin and Garrett indicated they are happy to play in both?

Garrett

I'm happy to play in both.

If I have more games it might just mean my replies are a little slower in each.

Cheers
Garrett.
