I am so willing to play but I am not sure if I am going to make it, just to busy with my work.

I made it finaly but had to request 1st round bye.
Top seeds are:
IM Stephen Solomon 2443
IM Peter Froehlich 2343
FM Gene Nakauchi 2051
Keven Duncan 2129
John Walker 1778
Tony Weller 1762
Canfell Mike 1727
Alex Stahnke 1617
Paul Summers 1574
Craig Stewart 1529
etc / total 47 Players

Interesting is that Ingolf Gaard has Fide rating 1948 and Faroe Islands rating 1848 but Arbiter Allan Thomas has given him provisional rating on first place 1500 and later put him on 1495???? This definately against the chess rules.

IM Stephen Solomon, IM Peter Froehlich, FM Gene Nakauchi and Alex Stahnke are on 3/3 points.
I may try to transmitt live games tomorow, depends on wireless Internet connection.
Games can be seen tomorow from 9 AM on: www.livegames.kingsofchess.biz

Have you brought this 'discrepency' to the attention of Alan Thomas?

Have you brought this 'discrepency' to the attention of Alan Thomas?

I given attention to Allan Thomas that is not correct but he ignored it, telling me that is the rating in his country but according Faroes Islands Chess Fedeartion his country rating is 1848 ( FIDE 1940 ).
Even Ingolf Gaard told the IM Peter Froehlich that his rating is around 1900.
I am not sure if Ingolf Gaard is a Friend from Ross Mills and Allan Thomas.
Also ther is another incident:
Vaso Djakovic 1100 rating has registered him self personally for the tournament early in the morning and has found that he is not in a draw, than Allan thomas did redraw and even this time Vaso Djakovic was not on the list, than funny thing is that Allan thomas told him do not worry I will give you 1/2 point what is good for you beacuse computer does not accept your name ( for some reason your name has vanished from the player list). I think Vaso Djakovic should receive 1 point and not 1/2 point.
I think Toowoomba chess club has own chess rules.

I am not sure if Ingolf Gaard is a Friend from Ross Mills and Allan Thomas. The arbiter should use either the players national or FIDE rating but based on available evidence certainly no rating lower than 1848.
If I was the arbiter I would use his FIDE rating.

I think Toowoomba chess club has own chess rules. However if as the arbiter claimed that "the computer wont accept his name" then how did the arbiter get his name on the computer for subsequent rounds. The problem appears to be due totally to the arbiter. As such the player should not be penalised due to the arbiter and therefore should get a full point not just half a point.

There is no reason I am aware of that SP would not accept the name of Vaso Djakovic.

For anecdotal purposes only ...

I had a chance to meet and play Igolf on two occasions (5 min and 2 min champs) this week at the BCC. I also had a chance to observe him in other games in the same time controls. IMO he is stronger than 1495.

Very interesting in light of the occurances last year at the darling downs tournament where the arbiter refused to award wins under the mobile phone law due to it being a social tournament in his opinion.

Perhaps I should add this:
Ingolf Gaard gets provisional rating 1500 after 1st round, from IA Alan Tomas.
On the begining of the third round he changes his rating on 1495.
Why Alan Thomas did put his rating 5 points down?
Here is the Answer:
1st Prize under 1500 $150
2nd Prize $100 and 3rd prize $75
IA Alan Tomas realised that 1500 is actionally not under 1500 rating!!!

Even I have given clear notice to Alan Tomas that is wrong, as I did previously stated but he gave me following answer: "This is rating from his Country and I am Arbiter, so I can adjust his provisional rating any time" and simple walked away.

They did not correct on Swiss perfect but they did correct on the pairing sheets.
Ross Mills said he is going to correct it tonight.

I have the files, but they are not completed ( with birth dates etc.). Ross Mills gave me files just for results announcments and he is going to email files tonight, as he promised to me, to Patrick Byrom from CAQ.

Brian, I can see in the crosstable above that the first place was shared by Solomon and Froehlich. In the grandprix 2008 website, the first place is given to Froehlich. Any reason for that? Thanks.

Now I can see your question Drug - its about about the Darling Downs Gold Cup!

Where players are equal in GP scores for a single event then the sequence is random.

Where players are equal in GP overall scores then the player with the least number of events will be placed higher.
