Thanks Garvo (for posting the results and organising the tourney).

Congrats to Solo.

Why did Mark withdraw ? Did he not get back from lunch in time and then pull the pin ? I was only just back in time myself.

That's probably an area that we could improve on for next year, either have a longer lunch break (15 minutes or so is not really enough time if you have to go up to the Springwood shops to buy lunch and come back) or have some food for sale at the tourney or not have the tourney start at 11am and run through lunch time.

Thanks to everyone who organised or helped with this tourney. It was nerve wracking but fun.

cheers
George.

The lightning will most likely be held the day before the QTC at the same venue (I say most likely cause nothing is ever guaranteed twelve months in advance).
The 15 minute break between rounds 6 and 7 was meant to just be a chance for everyone to go to the toilet, grab a drink and have a rest. I did not think that players would want to have a long lunch after only 6 rounds and 5 to go with play finishing before 2:30pm.

We started round 7 ten minutes late as well.

If there was to be a 30 plus minute lunch, then play would either have to start at 10am, or the CAQ AGM starts at 3:30pm. Part of the purpose of having play start at 11am is so everyone does not have to be up early to play or home late.

11am is most considerate. I would have played (and tried to hold off Solo) but our 'daughter' flew in from Oxford on Monday morning, so my wife didn't want me to take the two previous days at chess.

BTW, why isn't this thread in the Tourney Results section?

Because of the time I was putting up the results

Can a mod please move this thread to the tourney results section? :)
