Is it just me or does Alexander Khalifman look a lot like Russell Crowe?

YOU be the judge....

Here's another one for you guys (though not as good as the Khalifman pic).

Sergei Karjakin's dad or.....Billy Connolly?

Not bad, but sadly sans the brightly coloured facial hair.

Russell Crowe is my favourite actor. He was just brilliant in Gladiator and American Gangster. He is the most talented actor of the past decade without question.

what does this have to do with chess,I was wasting my time reading a bit looking for the punchline

Nothing. This is a non-chess thread. (Edit: oops, it's not.) Russell Crowe is one of my favorite actors too. Of course he was born in NZ!

The reason this was put in chess is that the premise of the opening post was that Crowe looked like Khalifman. The recent interest is more Crowe related than anything to do with Khalifman.

He was terrible in Les Mis.
Nah... He was a *little* stretched with the singing bit, laugh, but his perf was fine.
The problem with that movie was - basically - it's a musical. Unless you're familiar with the power of Hugo's novel, it's hard to connect with because the plot is lost in the sing-song.
But the intro scene to Les Mis was just jaw dropping. And credit to Jackman and Hathaway too.

Russ is an amazing guy and actor in my books. Ever since him, Pearce (and Bassinger) totally blew away hollywood with LA Confidential, he's been a star. Check out Heaven's Burning if you've never seen it. Classic aussie road movie.

Apart from both sporting a similar mustache at times I don't think they looked that similar.

Lasker as a young man...

2991

and Einstein at a similar age...

2992

Nah... He was a *little* stretched with the singing bit, laugh, i.e. every scene he is in.

Agree. Singing is not Russell's strong point....

I can see it. Although it does look like he's getting opera ready.
