Re: Chess
Respect for players. Respect for officials. Been banging on for years. Will bang on for years to come.

Re: Football (my other love)
As an avid watcher of the game (televised) I've been progressively irked when confronted by the images of miscreants grabbing, pawing, patting and insulting refs while these folk are simply trying to do their job. I came across this (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=468848&cc=3436).

While I don't have any specific point to make  I guess I'm posting this to help the flip flops get the idea that administrators of all flavours in all walks do require ongoing measures to address slipping standards (where the slipping occurs).

Respect for persistence in chasing a goal (in this case, that of the unanswered thread) in the face of difficult obstacles.

Possibly a little know fact. The song (R.E.S.P.E.C.T.) which was made famous by Aretha Franklin was written and recorded originally by Otis Redding. Upon hearing Aretha's version Otis said something along the lines of, "I just lost my song". He knew a good cover when he heard one. ;)
