Hi,

From the FIDE handbook, Swiss Lim system has been approved since 1987. While Dutch system in 199x and Dubov in 1997. So, how was the system used before 1987? What was the sub-system approved in those days?

Thanks for your reply.

Regards,
Chang

I have a feeling that, before approval of the Lim System, there were no FIDE-approved Swiss Rules. I'm open to correction on this. I know that the USCF had its own official Swiss Rules in 1977 as they are in a copy that I have of the Laws of Chess (including FIDE interpretations) published then. But there is no mention of any FIDE Swiss Rules.
