G'day Broadbear: Australian authors Purdy & Kosnitsky released a book that is easy to understand called: "Chess Made Easy", it's great both for beginners and those wishing to teach their kids.

If it's not in your local bookstore, try doing a google search on "Chess Made Easy" +Purdy, and you should find plenty of places that will sell it.

Cheers,

~EE :)
