I noticed in the press in the last day or so that an Indian female athlete (or one claiming to be such) has failed a sex test at the Asian Games. Apparently the test is not mandatory at these Games but may be ordered by officials at their own instigation or on the request of suspicious opponents.

Considering that FIDE has signed up for drug testing to meet Olympic standards, and chromosome testing would probably also be required at Olympics, it occurred to me to wonder if chess players could also be required to take sex tests and in what circumstances. Anybody know?

Actually when you think that a team of modestly-achieving male GMs could realistically win the Women’s Olympiad, whereas all the steroids in China would be totally useless, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
